What you need:
- 100% cotton (137 yd/ 5.3 oz | 125m/150g) in yellow, orange, red, green and khaki

Length approx. 19 cm without tassel (for larger books, simply crochet a few more rows for the bookmark)

How it works
Crochet bookmark
Bookmark (in red, khaki and green):
Crochet in rows. The chain at the end of the row is not counted. Cast on 9 chains and crochet as follows from the 2nd chain from the needle.
- R 1.–54: sc 8.

R 55: 1 dec, sc 4, 1 dec [= 6 sts].

R 56: dec, sc 2, dec [= 4 sts].

R 57: 2 x dec [= 2 sts].

R 58: dec [= 1 st].
Cut yarn and weave in ends .
Crochet strawberry (in red):
Crochet in spiral rounds. Stuff the strawberry continuously.
- Rd 1: Work 6 sc in a magic ring.

Rd 2: 6x (1 sc, 1 inc) [= 9 sts].

Rd 3: 9 sc.

Rd 4: 3x (2 sc, 1 inc) [= 12 sts].

Rd 5: 3x (3 sc, 1 inc) [= 15 sts].

Rd 6: 15 sc.

Rd 7: 3x (4 sc, 1 inc) [= 18 sts].

Rd 8: sc 18.

Rd 9: 3x (5 sc, 1 inc) [= 21 sts].

Rd 10.–11: 21 sc.

Rd 12: 7x (1 sc, 1 dec) [= 14 sts].

Rd 13: 7x 1 dec [= 7 sts].
Finish the round. Cut the thread long, pull through the front sts of the 13th round, pull tight and sew in place. Use white to embroider knotted stitches all round the strawberry for the seeds.
Crochet strawberry (in red):
Crochet in spiral rounds. Stuff the strawberry continuously.
- Rd 1: Work 6 sc in a magic ring.

Finish the round. Cut the thread long, pull through the front sts of the 13th round, pull tight and sew in place. Use white to embroider knotted stitches all round the strawberry for the seeds.
Strawberry leaves (in green):
- Crochet 1 slip stitch in a magic ring.

Without binding off *ch 5 and crochet 1 sl st, 3 dc along the ch (= 1st leaf).

Work 1 slip stich back into the magic ring*. Do not bind off.

Repeat from * to * 4 more times (= 5 leaves). Tighten the magic ring. Do not bind off.

Continue with the stem: ch 4 and work back along the chain, starting in the 2nd ch from hook: 1 sc, 2 sl st [image 3 and 4].

1 sl st back into the magic ring.
Cut a long piece of thread and sew the leaves onto the top of the strawberry.
Strawberry leaves (in green):
- Crochet 1 slip stitch in a magic ring.

Without binding off *ch 5 and crochet 1 sl st, 3 dc along the ch (= 1st leaf).

Work 1 slip stich back into the magic ring*. Do not bind off.

Repeat from * to * 4 more times (= 5 leaves). Tighten the magic ring. Do not bind off.

Continue with the stem: ch 4 and work back along the chain, starting in the 2nd ch from hook: 1 sc, 2 sl st [image 3 and 4].

Crochet in spiral rounds. Stuff the orange continuously.

Rd 3: 7x (1 sc, 1 inc) [= 21 sts].

Rd 4: 7x (2 sc, 1 inc) [= 28 sts].

Do not bind off. Continue with the stem. Ch 4 and from the 2nd ch from hook: 1 sc, 2 sl st [Fig. 2]

Do not bind off. Crochet 1 sl st in the 1st ch of the 1st leaf. Without binding off, repeat from * to * for the 2nd leaf [Fig. 3].
Cut a long piece of thread and sew the leaves onto the top of the orange.
Orange leaves (in khaki):
- * Ch 7, work back along the chain, start in 2nd ch from hook: 1 sc, 3 dc, 1 sc, 1 sl st* (= 1st leaf) [Fig. 1]

Do not bind off. Continue with the stem. Ch 4 and from the 2nd ch from hook: 1 sc, 2 sl st [Fig. 2]

Do not bind off. Crochet 1 sl st in the 1st ch of the 1st leaf. Without binding off, repeat from * to * for the 2nd leaf [Fig. 3].
Cut a long piece of thread and sew the leaves onto the top of the orange.
Crochet banana (in yellow and brown):
Crochet in spiral rounds, starting with yellow. Continuously stuff the banana with filling wool.
- Rd 1: 5 sc in a magic ring.

Rd 2: 2x (1 sc, 1 inc), 1 sc [= 7 sts].

Rd 3: 2x (2 sc, 1 inc), 1 sc [= 9 sts].

Rd 4: 2x (3 sc, 1 inc), 1 sc [= 11 sts].

Rd 5: 2x (4 sc, 1 inc), 1 sc [= 13 sts].

Rd 6.–15: 13 sc.

Rd 16: 2x (4 sc, 1 dec), 1 sc [= 11 sts].

Rd 17: 2x (3 sc, 1 dec), 1 sc [= 9 sts].

Rd 18: 2x (2 sc, 1 dec), 1 sc [= 7 sts].

Rd 19: 2x (1 sc, 1 dec), 1 sc [= 5 sts].

Rd 20: Change colour to brown, crochet 5 sc.
Finish the round. Cut the thread long, pull through the front sts of the 20th round, pull tight and sew in place. Embroider 4 tension stitches in brown at the lower tip (round 1).
Crochet banana (in yellow and brown):
Crochet in spiral rounds, starting with yellow. Continuously stuff the banana with filling wool.
- Rd 1: 5 sc in a magic ring.

Rd 2: 2x (1 sc, 1 inc), 1 sc [= 7 sts].

Rd 3: 2x (2 sc, 1 inc), 1 sc [= 9 sts].

Rd 4: 2x (3 sc, 1 inc), 1 sc [= 11 sts].

Rd 5: 2x (4 sc, 1 inc), 1 sc [= 13 sts].

Rd 6.–15: 13 sc.

Rd 16: 2x (4 sc, 1 dec), 1 sc [= 11 sts].

Rd 17: 2x (3 sc, 1 dec), 1 sc [= 9 sts].

Rd 18: 2x (2 sc, 1 dec), 1 sc [= 7 sts].

Rd 19: 2x (1 sc, 1 dec), 1 sc [= 5 sts].

Rd 20: Change colour to brown, crochet 5 sc.
Finish the round. Cut the thread long, pull through the front sts of the 20th round, pull tight and sew in place. Embroider 4 tension stitches in brown at the lower tip (round 1).
Crochet bookmark
Finishing
- Use a tassel maker (alternatively a fork) to make a tassel in yellow, red and orange for each bookmark.

Sew the finished tassels to the bottom tip of the bookmarks (r 58).

Sew the fruit to the top.
