Step 1
How to do it: Children's knitted dress
The knitted dress is knitted from the bottom up. Start with the flounces, which are then joined together and shaped to become narrower towards the body.
Finally, the sleeves are knitted and inserted.
This is how it works:
1. Volant
- Cast on 260/268/284 sts for the 1st ruffle. Close to work in the rnd. Knit 5 rnds in pattern I,
- Knit 5 rnds in pattern I, then cont in pattern II.
- At 6.5/7.5/8.5 cm (2½“/3“/3¼“) dec 20 sts evenly over the rnd in pattern II = 240/248/264 sts.
- After 6.5/7.5/8.5 cm (2½“/3“/3¼“) more, dec 40 sts evenly = 200/208/224 sts.
- Work for 6.5/7.5/8.5 cm (2½“/3“/3¼“) again, then over the next rnd dec 60 sts evenly = 140/148/164 sts.
- Leave sts.
2. Volant:
- Cast on 240/248/264 sts. Close to knit in the rnd.
- Knit 5 rnds in pattern I, then cont in pattern II.
- At 6.5/7.5/8.5 cm (2½“/3“/3¼“) dec 40 sts evenly over the rnd in pattern II = 200/208/224 sts.
- Work for 6.5/7.5/8.5 cm (2½“/3“/3¼“) again, then over the next rnd dec 60 sts evenly = 140/148/164 sts.
Now place the second flounce in front of the first flounce and knit 1 stitch together on both needles. Then continue knitting straight in pattern II, marking the beginning of the round.
Keep knitting straight in pattern II, place marker for beg of rnd. At 6.5/7.5/8.5 cm (2½“/3“/3¼“) from knitting tog of ruffles, knit 1 rnd as foll:
- from beg of rnd cast off 3 sts, knit 64/68/76 sts, cast off the next 6 sts, knit 64/68/76 sts, cast off 3 sts.
- Complete front and back separately, working in rows.
