This timeless men's jumper is knitted in separate pieces from the bottom up and sewn together at the end.

A pattern by Scheepjes, knitted using Scheepjes Woolwise yarn.

Back

Using 3.75mm needles, cast on 110 (122: 134: 146: 158: 170) sts.

  • Rd 1: 1 (RS) K2, (p2, k2) to end.
  • Rd 2: 2 (WS) P2, (k2, p2) to end.

These 2 rows form rib.

  • Work in rib a further 16 (16: 18: 18: 20: 20) more rows.
  • Change to 4mm needles.
  • Beg with a k row, work 164 (170: 174: 180: 184: 192) rows in st st, ending with a WS row.

Marking for the back neckline 

  • Divide for Back Neck and Shoulders Next row (RS) K37 (42: 47: 52: 57: 62), skpo, turn and work on these 38 (43: 48: 53: 58: 63) sts for first side of neck shaping, leaving unworked sts on holder.

Shape Right Back Neck and Shoulder

  • Rd 3 (RR): P2tog tbl, p to end. [1 st dec]
  • Rd 4 (HR): K to last 2 sts, skpo. [1 st dec]
  • Rep last 2 rows once more. [34 (39: 44: 49: 54: 59) sts]
  • Cast off 8 (9: 10: 11: 12: 13) sts at beg of next row and following 2 RS rows. [10 (12: 14: 16: 18: 20) sts]
  • Cast off remaining 10 (12: 14: 16: 18: 20) sts.

Shape Left Back Neck and Shoulder

  • With RS facing, place centre 32 (34: 36: 38: 40: 42) sts on st holder, rejoin yarn to remaining sts, k2tog, k to end. [38 (43: 48: 53: 58: 63) sts]
  • Next row (WS) P to last 2 sts, p2tog. [1 st dec]

Nackband

  • Sew up the right shoulder seam.
  • With the right side facing outwards and using 3.75 mm needles, pick up 22 sts from the left front neckline, knit 28 (30: 32: 34: 36: 38) sts from the front gathered section,
  • Pick up 22 sts from the right front neckline, pick up 11 sts from the right back neckline, knit 32 (34: 36: 38: 40: 42) sts from the back gathered section,
  • 11 M aus dem linken hinteren Halsausschnitt aufnehmen. [126 (130: 134: 138: 142: 146) M]
  • Rib row 1 (RS) P2, (k2, p2) to end.
  • Rib row 2 (RR) K2, (p2, k2) to end.

Step 4

Finishing

  • Join left shoulder and Neckband seam.
  • Place marker 56 (60: 64: 68: 72: 76) rows down from shoulder on each side of both Back and Front.
  • Matching centre of sleeve cast-off edge to shoulder seam, sew in sleeves between sm.
  • Join side and Sleeve seams.
  • Weave in all ends and block to measurements.

Step 4

Finishing

  • Join left shoulder and Neckband seam.
  • Place marker 56 (60: 64: 68: 72: 76) rows down from shoulder on each side of both Back and Front.
  • Matching centre of sleeve cast-off edge to shoulder seam, sew in sleeves between sm.
  • Join side and Sleeve seams.
  • Weave in all ends and block to measurements.
