Pullover Lia – chunky knit poncho
A cosy companion for everyday wear and leisure – the Lia jumper is quick to knit using chunky yarn with splashes of colour. A pattern by Lang Yarns.

What you'll need
- LANG YARNS MOSAIC, Schurwolle (100 g / 140 m)
- addi knitting needles size US 11 (8 mm).
- 1 addi short circular needle, size US 10 (6 mm).
Gauge:
- 10 sts = 4“ (10 cm) measured slightly stretched, 13 rows = 4” (10 cm).
- US 11 (8 mm) needles:
Dimensions:
- Size: S- M / L- XL
- Bust 78¾“/88“ (200/224 cm)
- Length 15“/16½“ (38/42 cm)
Yarn consumption:
- 300/400 g = 3/4 balls
Tip:
- When decreasing, crochet a chain stitch between the two U 1 Lftm as a placeholder.
Pattern
Muster I: Gittermuster, 8 mm needle:
- M is divisible by 3 + 4 + 2 sts.
- 1st row: 1 round, knit 2 stitches tog, *2 yarn overs, 1 double dec (= slip 2 sts together, knit 1, pass the 2 slipped sts over the knitted st), rep from * to * throughout, ending with 2 U, 1 dec (= slip 1 st, knit 1, pass the slipped st over the knitted st), 1 round.
- 2nd row: 1 ch, *2 purl sts, 1 knit st*, rep from * to * throughout, ending with 1 purl st, 1 ch. Repeat rows 1 and 2 throughout. At the start of the row, simply slip the stitch, and at the end of the row, knit it.
Pattern II: Ribbed pattern, 6 mm needle:
- 1 M reads, 2 M reads.
Step 1
Back
- Cast on 102/114 sts with US 11 (8 mm) needles.
- Shape shoulders: When back measures 11¾”/13½” (30/34 cm), mark center 18/22 sts for neck with 42/46 sts each side.
- Neckline: At the same time, begin neck shaping when back measures 13¾”/15¼” (35/39 cm). continue to bind off for shoulder as instructed, work to first marker then leave these sts on a holder for right side, remove marker, bind off the next 18/22 sts, remove marker and work to end.
Step 1
Back
- Cast on 102/114 sts with US 11 (8 mm) needles.
- Shape shoulders: When back measures 11¾”/13½” (30/34 cm), mark center 18/22 sts for neck with 42/46 sts each side.
- Neckline: At the same time, begin neck shaping when back measures 13¾”/15¼” (35/39 cm). continue to bind off for shoulder as instructed, work to first marker then leave these sts on a holder for right side, remove marker, bind off the next 18/22 sts, remove marker and work to end.
Step 2
Front
- Work as for back.
- Neckline: When front measures 11¾“/13“ (30/33 cm) mark center 12/16 sts. work to the first marker and leave these sts on a holder for the right side, remove marker, bind off 12/16 sts, remove marker and work to end. Now work each side separately, turn your work continue with the left side as follows:
- Shape shoulder at same length and in the same way as for back.
Step 2
Front
- Work as for back.
- Neckline: When front measures 11¾“/13“ (30/33 cm) mark center 12/16 sts. work to the first marker and leave these sts on a holder for the right side, remove marker, bind off 12/16 sts, remove marker and work to end. Now work each side separately, turn your work continue with the left side as follows:
- Shape shoulder at same length and in the same way as for back.
Step 3
Finishing
- Close the seams
- Neckband: With the circular needle, pick up 60/69 sts around the neck opening (back = 27/31 sts, front = 33/38 sts).
- After 3 rnds, bind off all sts loosely in pattern. Sew in ends.
