With addi Around the World
In summer 2019 addi started the project "around the world with addi" with Fanny from yarn around the world. DIY & crochet book author Fanny is constantly plagued by wanderlust. She started her trip around the world at the beginning of August last year. With her was a backpack full of wool and a selection of addi needlework tools. In the foreign countries she met other needlework enthusiasts as well as addi products in the local shops.

There's not much room in a world travel backpack and every gram counts, so Fanny had to think carefully beforehand about which needlework projects would come into question during the trip so that she could specifically pack her favourite addi products.
The following addi products were on the world tour with me:
- addiSockwonder
- addiCraSyTrio
- addiNovel knitting needle
- addiSwing wool crochet set
- addiNature olive wood wool crochet hook
- addiLove stitch markers
- affiToGo stitch holders
- Embroidery scissors Goldmarie
Most of the handicrafts created were to be given away on the trip, for which she crocheted with the Crochet hooks
e.g. many different shopping nets or key rings. These were welcome gifts. A free shopping net instruction (knitted & crocheted) is offered by the initiative Handarbeit under the action - Make me Take me .
Knitting socks is also wonderful for on the go, because it's not a huge project and you have something to do for quite a while. That's why the addiSockwonder and for the toe of the socks the addiCraSyTrio.
On her way, Fanny also knitted shawls and a hat with the addiNovel circular knitting needles. These were used for hiking in the Himalayas, among other places. Route & where Fanny discovered addi
The world tour starts by plane from southern Germany to St. Petersburg, Russia. In St. Petersburg - the pearl on the Baltic Sea - Fanny visited the first shop with a large addi range. Here, the excellent price-performance ratio and the quality of the addi products were praised. The journey continued by train to the capital Moscow, followed by the Trans-Siberian Railway to Irkutsk, Siberia. The huge Lake Baikal awaited them in Siberia and also in Irkutsk they explored a wool shop with beautiful addi products.
The journey continued to the Mongoliawhere the addi sock wonder was in constant use during the 17-day tour of the big country. Also in the Gobi Desert Fanny knitted diligently. Subsequently, in Hong KongI got a whiff of the big city air and visited another shop with addi products.
In the Philippines she let her soul dangle for some time and crocheted sun hats and crochet tops with the addiSwing crochet hooks to add something to her world travel luggage. This was also the birth of Klausi, the brother of the Eagle Cubs Horsti.
Afterwards Fanny explored the island Taiwan as well as their handicraft scene. addi knitting & crochet needles are also sold in the capital Taipei.
Fanny spent Christmas and the turn of the year 19/20 on the beautiful island of Sri Lanka. She went on to India, where she was inspired by beautiful colour combinations and patterns. During the seven weeks, it was mainly the addiNovel knitting needles that were in use, because a hat and a warm shawl urgently needed to be in the luggage for the next destination.
In March, the new knitted pieces then arrived in Nepal on the big trek in the Himalayas - the Annapurna Circuit. Untypical for the season, Fanny struggled with a lot of snow on the altitude metres. After crossing the pass at an altitude of 5416 m, unfortunately, the Corona circumstances also befell her...

Whether it was heat, high humidity or cold, the addi products held up well due to the very high Quality standards excellent stand. The accessories, especially the small Handwork Scissors Goldmarie and the addiToGo Hearts to secure the mesh were extremely helpful.

World tour break
So much was still planned, but after almost 8 months, the journey did not continue through Asia, but back to Germany instead. The uncertain situation worldwide in the month of March did not allow us to continue our journey.
Fanny took advantage of the break in June, as part of her knitting tour of Germany, to attend a Factory tour to drop by addi and at the same time learn about the Novelties 2020 to inform.

What happens next?
Due to the current circumstances, Fanny is very cautiously making plans to continue her journey. From the beginning of August, she will be travelling again with her favourite addi products, initially in Europe. This time, however, a mouth-nose mask will join her in her world travel luggage.
