Selter has passed the Ökoprofit test 2022
Environmentally friendly management,commitment of employees to the sustainable use of resources, securing and attracting skilled workers – these are and were good reasons for addi to participate in the recertification of the “Ökoprofit NRW” project.

As early as 2020, we received the recognized and tested proof of practiced environmental and climate protection in companies. And thanks to the continuation of the measures and the introduction of further measures, we were again allowed to take the certificate in our hands in June 2022.
100% green electricity, the installation of LED lighting, small but sustainable measures such as flower meadows and insect hotels, and financial support for communal reforestation areas are examples of how a team of employees at addi is intensively addressing the topic of the environment and thereby increasing eco-efficiency.

What is Ecoprofit?
Ökoprofit (Ecological Project For Integrated Environmental Technology) is a cooperation project between cities and the local business community with the aim of reducing operating costs while conserving natural resources.

Sustainability and environmental awareness have always been part of addi‘s company policy. This mindful attitude is also reflected in our participation in the ÖKOPROFIT Märkischer Kreis eco-project.
We are also going for recertification in 2024 to ensure the award continues. At addi, we have a project team of around 10 employees who meet regularly to review measures that have already been taken or introduce new measures. And they do so successfully:
- Purchase of a leak detection device and the sealing of detected leaks saves 15,000 kWh of electricity and 8.3 tons of CO² per year.
- Replacing defective light bulbs with LEDs
- Investing in new heating technology
- Switching from disposable to reusable cleaning cloths
- Improving analytics in the electroplating department
The one-off investment costs of around €60,000 have been offset by annual savings of €45,000. And over 50 tons of CO² are also consumed less each year.
Savings at a glance
In 2023, the employees as a team campaigned for the financial support of the company for municipal reforestation areas. And the team also lends a hand itself. For example, birdhouses were purchased and an insect hotel was built. A flower meadow was also created with the help of family members young and old. This measure will be repeated in 2024.

Of course, all members of the Ökoprofit team by addi are aware that it takes a lot of patience to change behaviors and that technical or local conditions can sometimes cause failure, but this does not detract from their commitment.
The awareness of thinking about future generations and showing personal commitment to this is the basis for the successful implementation of the project.
We invest continuously:
- Environmentally friendly technologies, e.g. in the use of materials and transport of raw materials
- e.g. transport of bamboo is optimised to conserve resources
- We source many of our raw materials from the region
- We use reusable packaging, reduce its size and weight and switch to recycled paper and cardboard
- We reduce the consumption of electricity and the production of waste
