How it works
Wind kids poncho – the parts
Front and back are each composed of part A and B. For a striped effect, different yarns or a gradient yarn can be applied.
Part A (2x)
- Cast on 19 stitches to the right of the black needles.

Alternating, increase 2 stitches every 2nd row and 1 stitch in the 4th row on the right.

Repeat this alternating increase 8 times = 43 stitches.

Work 2 rows across all stitches = 43 rows – 66 stitches.
Part B (2x)
- Cast on 19 stitches to the left of the black needles.

Alternating, increase 2 stitches every 2nd row and 1 stitch in the 4th row on the right.

- Transfer the stitches of the individual panels from the top and bottom to the circular needle and bind off.

Use Kitchener stitch to join panels.
Now begin shoulder and neck shaping:
- Pick up stitches and work 4 rows in garter stitch, (1 row knit – 1 row purl), bind off loosely.
Lower edge:
- Pick up stitches, knit 6 rows in garter stitch (1 row knit – 1 row purl), bind off loosely.

Work approx. 10-cm long fringe (finished length) into lower edge.
