How it works
Chunky crochet bags
First, work a chain, which is then crocheted on both sides to create a narrow base. Then crochet in spiral rounds without increases to give the bag height. Simply crochet to the end of the yarn and continue working with a new ball. In the last round, work in the handles using chain stitches.
Version 1
Small bag
- Chain 7
-
Now crochet back along the chain. Skip the first chain stitch and start in the 2nd chain stitch from the needle:
-
crochet 1 single crochet into each of the next 5 chain stitches,
-
4 single crochets into the last chain stitch (gradually turning the row to the right so that you continue working on the other side of the chain; the 4 single crochets are therefore crocheted into the last stitch of the row, which is also the first stitch of the back of the row),
-
1 single crochet into each of the next 5 chain stitches,
-
3 single crochets into the last stitch.
-
-
Do not close into a round, but work in spiral rounds.
-
Continue crocheting 1 single crochet into each stitch until 6 rounds have been worked. Change the yarn gradually if necessary.
Handle:
- Start at the fold of the bag:
- 1 single crochet in each of the next 3 stitches,
- chain 13 for the handle,
- skip 4 stitches,
- 1 single crochet in each of the next 5 stitches,
- chain 13 for the handle,
- skip 4 stitches,
- 1 single crochet in the next stitch,
- 1 slip stitch in the next stitch.
-
Cut the thread and sew the end with your fingers. Sew all other ends with your fingers on the inside.
