Is it normnal for my machine to be loud or make noise?
- Yes, whenever the black needles are cranked past, the row counter spring is triggered with a click.
- Yes. Especially when cranking the machine without yarn and during the first round after casting on, the gears of the machine will be louder.
If the handle cannot be turned further, it may be ...
- ... that the machine button is set to ‘Straight knitting’.
- … the thread has not been inserted properly. In which case simply start again, following the instructions.
- … remnants of yarn are stuck between the needle and the shank. These can be plucked out using the plastic needle or a pair of tweezers.
Why do my stitches keep dropping ...
- … the handle was turned too fast.
- … the yarn was held too loosely.
- ... it could be due to the wrong yarn (p. 16-18). Make sure that the stitches have been picked up correctly. Try again with a different yarn or make sure that the yarn is consistently loose in the knitting machine.
- ... a ball of yarn has not been unwound or it is tangled. This changes the tension and the result or knitting pattern may be different.
- ... the yarn was not caught exactly by the needle. Therefore, always pay attention to the yarn path while knitting. In this case, simply pick up the stitch again with the plastic needle and lift it onto the needle.
Why is my handle loose?
- The machine has been designed with a little leeway so that the handle has some movement to the sides when winding. It may feel as if the handle is loose, but this is intentional.
The handle is difficult to turn because...
- ... the yarn is too tight. Remove the yarn and thread it again. Keep it loose and unwind the first few centimetres for the first row from the ball beforehand.
- ... the needles are damaged - replace them ( spare parts).
- ... the yarn has slipped over the needle heads and needs to be repositioned correctly.
- ... the black needles are reached. There is a spring inside the machine that triggers the row counter. This creates a resistance and it clicks when the spring is overcome.
Why does my knitting look uneven?
- It is important to maintain an even tension guide. The speed at which the yarn is Winding also has an influence on the look of the knitted fabric. If the yarn runs loosely through the hand (or a yarn tensioner), this guarantees an even knitting pattern.
- After the first wash (follow the washing instructions), the yarn relaxes and the look becomes more even.
Why does the knitting twist in the machine?
By winding the handle, long pieces of knitting are twisted underneath the machine. There are several ways to prevent this:
- A tubular can simply be wound up in the centre of the machine (no twisting of the knitted fabric).
- For long pieces, you can wrap a mega ball under the table and secure it with a safety pin.
- The machine can be attached to a mobile workbench/table with a hole. This prevents the knitted fabric from twisting.
How do I store my machine?
We recommend keeping your machine covered or in its original box when not in use for extended periods of time.
Is my machine under warranty?
- The addiExpress is subject to the standard warranty period. However, if individual parts such as the handle or the thread holder are damaged due to your own fault or wear, the spare parts can be purchased individually.
- If the knitting machine is used with the aid of electric drives, the warranty is immediately void.
