Hind foot - knitted by hand
- Cast on stitches according to chart (32 sts) on one needle of DPN or addiCraSyTrio.
-
Knit the rows of the hind foot (46 rows) stockinette with edge stitches (approx. 25 cm)
-
Then (from row 47) knit in rounds:
-
Distribute 8 sts on each needle DPN or 16 sts on each of two Trio needles. Close your piece to the round and pick up additional 2 sts at the foot opening.
-
Now continue as described in step 2.
Hind foot – winding with addiExpress Kingsize
- First, set the addi Express Kingsize to “Plain knitting” operation and create a piece with approx. 47 rows.
- When changing directions, be sure that the felting wool is also knitted correctly. Remove the knitted piece with open stitches from the machine
-
At the bottom of the knit, carefully pull out the cross yarn and unravel one row, picking up stitches on two needles (DPN or Trio) = 46 rows.
- Take up 8 stitches each onto four needles (DPN) / 16 sts (Trio) and close to a round.
-
It’s best to first knit a round, in order to be sure that all of the stitches are properly on the needles.
-
Now continue as described in step 2.

Knitting front foot
- Knit in the round and increase two stitches at the foot opening (= 34 sts). Now knit more rounds (chart – 15 rows until the slipper is approx. 34 cm long).
-
Then start decreasing – knit two stitches together at the beginning of each needle (DPN) (for the Trio needles, place a stitch marker in the middle of each and decrease there as well) until there are only eight stitches left in total.

Finishing
- Sew the last stitches together with the thread of the work.
-
Sew all threads.
- Close the back heel and sew or crochet together.
Tip: To make the slipper around the ankle a little higher, you can crochet a fold-over edge above the foot opening, for example, or pick up stitches from the edge and knit a piece in rounds. The opening should not be reduced so that the foot still fits through after washing.

Felting in the washing machine
The slipper is felted by placing in the washing machine – normal wash cycle at 40 °C/104 °F and spin (e.g. casual 40 °C). We recommend using a colour-fast detergent. To better felt the slippers, they should always be washed with durable laundry with like colours (e.g. cotton blouses, jeans, jerseys, etc.).

Knitting felt slippers – tip for soles:
Here is a video tutorial: Knitting felt slippers with Botties soles by Veronika Hug - completely cranked on the addiExpress knitting machine:
The forefoot can also be cranked with the addiExpress and then pulled together. This uses a little more material and makes the lace a little thicker.
