Autumn Bounty Garland
How to Crochet an Autumn Garland
Notes on the instructions:
Mushroom and Rosehip Berry motifs are worked using the amigurumi method.
Work sts continuously in a spiral without closing each round with ss.
Mark first st of each round with m, moving it up as you go.
Strengthen and shape Leaf motifs by blocking with a glue/ water mix before attaching to hanging cord.
Tip: Make glue/water mix by combining equal portions of PVA glue and water.
Step 1
Crochet Amigurumi Mushrooms (4 pieces)
- Size: 12 x 9 cm
- Material:
- Scheepjes Mighty, Yarn A, 759 Canyon (light grey) x 1 ball
- Scheepjes Catona, Yarn C, 192 Scarlet (red) x 1 ball
Mushroom (Stem):
Using colour A and a 3 mm crochet hook, make a slip knot.
- Rd 1: 10dc into ring. [10 dc]
- Rd 2: 1dc blo in each st around. [10 dc blo]
- Rd 3: 1dc in each st around. [10 dc]
- Rd 4: (Dc2tog, 3dc) twice. [2 dc2tog, 6 dc]
- Rd 5-6: 1dc in each st around. [8 dc]
- Lightly stuff as you go for Rounds 7-10.
- Rd 7: (Dc2tog, 2dc) twice. [2 dc2tog, 4 dc]
- Rd 8-9: 1dc in each st around. [6 dc]
- Rd 10: 2dc in each st around, ss to beg dc to join. [12 dc]
- Rd 11: Ch3 (counts as 1 tr), 1tr in same st as join, 2tr in each st around, ss to beg 3-ch to join. [24 tr]
- Cut yarn.
Mushroom (cap):
Using colour C and a 2.5 mm crochet hook, make a slip knot, leaving a 20 cm long tail.
- Rd 1: 8dc into ring. [8 dc]
- Rd 2: (1dc, 2dc in next st) 4 times. [12 dc]
- Rd 3: (1sc, 2sc in next st) 6 times. [18 sc]
- Rd 4: 1dc in each st around.
- Rd 5: (1dc, 2dc in next st) 9 times. [27 dc]
- Rd 6: (2dc, 2dc in next st) 9 times. [36 dc]
- Rd 7: 1dc in each st around.
- Rd 8: (5dc, 2dc in next st) 6 times. [42 dc]
- Rd 9: Ss fairly tightly in each st around, fasten off. [42 ss]
Hanging Loop
- Thread tail from start of Top onto needle, pass needle through starting mr from WS to RS and back to WS again to make tiny hanging lp approx. 0.5cm high.
- Secure tail firmly on WS, fasten off.
Spots
- Thread needle with 40cm length of Yarn A, tie firm knot in one end. Insert from WS of Top and sew approx.
- 20-25 tiny running sts at random intervals to create ‘spots’ on RS (use image as guide).
- Cut yarn.
Assembly
- Lightly stuff Top and place onto Stalk to fit neatly inside ‘rim’ of Top (Note: Stalk may need to be stretched slightly).
- Sew tog with tiny running sts around outside edge.

- Cut yarn.
Mushroom (cap):
Using colour C and a 2.5 mm crochet hook, make a slip knot, leaving a 20 cm long tail.

- Rd 3: (1sc, 2sc in next st) 6 times. [18 sc]
- Rd 4: 1dc in each st around.
- Rd 5: (1dc, 2dc in next st) 9 times. [27 dc]
- Rd 6: (2dc, 2dc in next st) 9 times. [36 dc]
- Rd 7: 1dc in each st around.
- Rd 8: (5dc, 2dc in next st) 6 times. [42 dc]
- Rd 9: Ss fairly tightly in each st around, fasten off. [42 ss]
Hanging Loop

- ss to beg dc, fasten off.
Round 2 (RS)
- Join Yarn E with 1dc in same st as join, 1htr,
- (1tr, ch2, 1ss) in next st, 1dc, 1htr,
- (2tr, ch3, 1ss) in next st, 1dc, 1htr,
- (1tr, 1dtr) in next st,
- (2dtr, ch3, 1ss) in next st, 1dc, 1tr, 6tr
- in end st (remove m), 1tr, 1dc,

Rose Leaf (make 5)

Scheepjes Catona, Yarn J, 395 Willow (olive) x 1 ball
Rose leaf
- Using colour J and a 2.5 mm crochet hook, chain 10 stitches
Round 1 (RS)
- Work along ch: 1dc in second ch from hook, 1htr, 4tr, 2htr, 3dc in last ch (pm in second ch to mark end st),
- work back along other side of ch, 2htr, 4tr, 1htr, 1dc, ch1, ss to beg dc to join.
Round 2 (RS)
- Ch1, 1dc in same st as join, 1dc, (2dc in next st, 2dc) twice, 1dc,
- (1dc, picot, 1dc) in end st (remove m), 3dc,
- (2dc in next st, 2dc) twice, (1dc, ch5, 1dc) in ch-1 sp, ss to beg dc.
- Fasten off.
Part 5
Crochet Amigurumi Rose Hips (10 pieces)
Material:

- Scheepjes Mighty, Farbe Farbe B, 1 Knäuel 755 Mountain (dunkelgrau)
- Scheepjes Catona, Yarn C, 192 Scarlet (red) x 1 ball
Crocheting a Rosehip
- Using colour C and a 2.5 mm crochet hook, make a slip knot
Round 1:
- (RS) 6dc into ring.
Round 2:
- (2dc, 2dc in next st) twice. [8dc]
Round 3:
- 1dc in each st around.
Round 4
- Dc2tog 4 times. [4 dc2tog]
- Fasten off leaving tail, thread tail onto needle and sew around top to close.
- Cut a piece of Yarn B approx. 15cm long, tie secure knot in one end, thread other end onto needle and pull needle through Rosehip from bottom to top so that knot sits at bottom.
- Tie two Rosehips tog (use image as guide), then tie securely around hanging lp of Dog Rose Leaf.
- Rep for each two Rosehips and one Dog Rose Leaf.
Part 5

- Yarn B 755 Mountain x 1 ball
Blocking Leaves
- Dip each sheet into a mixture of water and glue, squeeze out the excess very carefully, shape it, and let it dry.
Tip:
- If you place plastic wrap on the stretching mat, the leaves won't stick to it.
Assembly
- With Yarn B and 3mm hook, ch30,
- work 1dc in hanging lp at top of Small Oak Leaf and Large Oak Leaf held tog (with Small Leaf in front and RS facing forward for both), (ch15, 1dc in hanging lp of next motif) for all motifs
- in following order: Sweet Chestnut Leaf, Dog Rose Leaf (with Rosehip Berries), Mushroom, Small and Large Oak Leaves tog, until all motifs are attached, ch30, fasten off.
Finishing
- Weave in all ends.
