Fancy some new Christmas tree decorations?
Fancy some new Christmas tree decorations? Whether you want to give your old baubles a new look or you're still missing baubles - with the small addiExpress machine you can knit a woolly cover in no time at all.
- Variant 1: Balls with an embroidered cover. When stretched, the ball colour is still visible through the knitted fabric
-
Variant 2: If the double height is cranked, the knitted fabric becomes so dense that the ball underneath is no longer visible.
-
Variant 3: The ball cover is stuffed with wadding or yarn remnants instead of a ball
This is how it works:
Last minute: Knitting Christmas baubles
Cast on stitches with the standard cast-on yarn in the round.
Depending on the size of your desired ball, crank a single height of:
- up to Ø 4 cm (1.6") approx. 10 rounds
-
up to Ø 6 cm (2.4") approx. 14 rounds
-
up to Ø 8 cm (3.2") approx. 18 rounds
For variant 2, crank twice as many rounds.
Depending on the elasticity of the yarn and the desired density, you can adjust the number of rounds slightly.
- Fewer rounds = tighter and more translucent fit on the ball
-
More rounds = looser fit and closer knit
Bind off the knitted fabric from the machine by threading all the stitches with the red sewing needle.
- Pull the knitted fabric together at the bottom and sew the closed end with the thread at the end.
-
Fill the knitted ball with a Christmas bauble or filling material.
-
Pull the upper end together around the suspension, knot and sew the end well.
-
Optionally, a suspension or the end thread can be used as a hanging loop for self-filled baubles.
