Knit a scarf in a zigzag pattern
In the mood for a light and airy, cozy scarf with a gentle knit pattern? This merino and silk scarf with a delicate zigzag pattern has a sophisticated look thanks to its simple yet effective pattern. A tutorial by Austermann.
- Austermann Maxin (150 m / 50 g), 6 balls in color 06
- addiNature Olive knitting needle 4 mm (US 6)
- Scissors
- Wool needle
- Width: approx. 30 cm (12")
- Length: approx. 180 cm (71")
- 24 sts x 36 R = 10 x 10 cm (4" x 4")
Work 3 edge stitches
Right Side (RS):Knit 1, slip 1 purlwise while pulling the yarn in front of the work, knit 1
Wrong Side (WS):Slip 1 purlwise while pulling the yarn in front of the stitch, knit 1, slip 1 purlwise while pulling the yarn in front of the stitch
Repeat Right Side row and Wrong Side row continuously.
Knit the scarf
Cast on 79 stitches.
Divide the stitches as follows in the WS row:
- 3 edge stitches
- Knit 73 sts
- 3 edge stitches
Continue working in the pattern as follows:
- 3 edge stitches
- Work the pattern repeat (MS) 4 times with 18 stitches ( I = knit, – = purl), ending with one st after the pattern repeat (MS).
- 3 edge stitches
After approx. 180 cm from the start, knit one WS row and bind off the stitch in the next row.
