4 patterns: sock patterns for colourful yarns
A small collection of simple sock patterns which are working well with colored yarn. They are created using only knit and purl stitches and bring a bit of variety to your sock drawer.
The patterns can be knitted in the round without much counting and thinking and are therefore suitable for sofa and TV.
They are subtle and therefore particularly suitable for colourful sock yarns, where not every pattern comes into its own.

Knitting simple sock patterns
Many effective sock patterns can be created simply from knit and purl stitches by arranging them in different ways. The advantage: the patterns are usually nicely stretchy and contract slightly, which improves the fit of the sock and ensures that the upper fits the leg nicely and does not slip.
The sock patterns start after the cuff and can be and can either be knitted just over the top or continued along the top of the foot. The heel, toe and the lower half of the sock (outsole) are usually knitted straight, because the even stitch pattern is more comfortable to wear when walking.
Tip: You can find the right number of stitches for your shoe size in our Sock charts here on the website or in the sock calculator in our addi2go app.

What does rapport mean?
All patterns have a repeat in stitches and rows. This means that the number of stitches cast on the needle (e.g. 30 sts per Trio needle) should be divisible by the number of stitches mentioned in the repeat (e.g. 4) because after 4 stitches the pattern starts again from the beginning and can thus easily be repeated.
The number of rounds means that the pattern repeats after this number of rounds. So you knit the described rounds again and again until the leg is long enough.
Tip: For longer pattern repeats, the pattern can also be finished well in the middle or at an offset transition if the shaft otherwise becomes too long.
