Knit bow tie
Knitting pattern:
- Stockinette stitch in rows: Knit right side, purl wrong side
- Stockinette stitch in rounds: Knit all stitches
- Edge stitches: Slip every first stich purlwise and knit every last stitch of the row.
How it works
Knit bow tie
The bow tie consists of three parts - the main body, the collar band for the collar and the knot.
Cast on stitches
- Start with the body of the tie. Cast on 46 stitches.
- You can work the body in rows and finish your work with kitchener stitch at the end, or you can chose an addiCraSyTrio or addi double-pointed needles to knit in a small round. If you'd like to knit in the round, join and be careful not to twist.
Body
- Work 15 rows or round in stockinette.
-
Bind off and weave in ends
-
When you have knitted in rows, close the main body in the round (turn the optional seam to the centre back).
Wrap a thread around the middle of the basic body some times to give it the typical shape. Secure the thread on the back side.
Knot
- For the knot you will knit a thin tape.
-
Cast on 7 stitches and work in stockinette for 16 rows.
-
Bind off the tape, wrap it around the basic body on top of the thread you have used to secure the shape. Seam the tape together.
Be sure not to seam it onto the back side of the basic body. You will go stick the collar band through later.
Collar band
- Cast on 9 stitches
- work an approximately 35 cm (14 inches) long band - depending on the collar size.
-
Bind off and weave in alle ends. You can use a button or other fastener, if you want.
Finally, simply pull the collar band through the knot - the bow tie is finished.
