Close ends by crocheting
The purl stitches in the color of your cuff (blue in this case) are now crocheted together as follows:
- Insert the needle into the outermost 2 stitches in the color of your cuff and pull the second stitch through the first.
- Now alternately crochet together one stitch from the lower edge and one stitch from the upper edge (insert the hook from the inside to the outside) until all stitches have been secured and the edge is closed.
- Finish the edge by pulling the long end tail through the last stitch.
The supporting yarns are finally removed, leaving a closed edge.
Tip: Are the arms a little too wide and the edge closed with the crochet hook too tight?
Alternatively, the edge can be bound off elastically, e.g., by crocheting slip stitches and chain stitches alternately with a crochet hook and a longer end thread, or by picking up all stitches on a knitting needle and binding them off elastically.

Now connect the side edges by crocheting. To prepare, place a rectangle with the edges you just connected at the top and bottom. Fold the rectangle in half (right and left edges on top of each other).
Measure with a tape measure as follows:
- close 5 cm (2") from the top
- Leave 5 cm (2") open for the thumb hole.
- close 9 (17) / 3.5" (7")
