Leave approx. 1.20 m of the green yarn.
Knit a few more rounds with spare yarn, then cast off the knitting.
- Pick up the st of the last round with Merino yarn, using the circular needle.
-
Unpick the spare yarn and sew the knitting using a mattress stitch.
-
Now proceed similarly with the 1st rd of the fi rst stripe at the beginning.
-
Carefully separate the spare yarn. Sew the knitting using a mattress stitch, see above

- Tie the two coloured yarns where the colours join with a single knot.
-
Sew the yarns in the direction of the respective wale in the stripe of the same colour to maintain the knitting’s elasticity and keep the sewing largely invisible.
-
Sew in one direction of the wale and back in the adjacent wale for the sewn yarn to hold for longer.
Then pull the knitted tube inside out, twist it once roughly in the middle as if to wring it out and pull the 2nd half of the tube over the first half.
You can leave some of the stripes on the lower part of the
beanie showing, if you like.

Tips
Elastic stitching
If you want the edge to look elastic but still neat, stitch the edge with a blunt coarse embroidery needle:
Step 1
- Push the needle from the back to the front between the first (right) stitch and the following stitch, pull the thread all the way through and tighten moderately.
Step 2
- Push the needle through the 2nd stitch as for right-hand knitting and tighten.
Step 3
- Push the needle through the 2nd stitch as for right-hand knitting. Let the stitch slide off the needle and tighten.
Repeat steps 1-3 until there is only 1 st left on the needle. Pull the thread through. Finished!
Sew thread
If there are threads to be sewn in circular knits, it is best to sew them lengthwise on the right side of the knitted fabric, matching the colour, so that the elasticity of the knitted fabric is maintained and the sewn threads do not slip out again. You can then hardly see the sewn threads.
Have fun winding and
wear or give away!
