What is a jacquard pattern?
Jaquard pattern, also known as ‘Faire-Isle’ or ‘Colourwork’, means that a two-coloured pattern is knitted with two threads that are alternately knitted off according to the pattern chart. The colours can change in the course of the pattern.
The thread that is not being knitted should be crossed once every 3-4 sts with the knitted thread on the back of the knitted piece. You will learn how to do this: Learn more in the video..
Knitting two-colour patterns is made easier, especially for beginners, by a Yarn ring like addi2You Handling is simplified because there is enough space between the two threads. If your thread tension is too loose, the threads can also be wrapped once around the ring eyelets.
A even thread tension of both threads is important to keep the pattern even and to prevent the knitted piece from becoming too tight on the inside due to too tight tension threads and no longer fitting.
Pattern
Ribbing in the Round
- K1, p1 in alternation.
Stockinette Stitch:
- In Rounds: K all sts.
- In Rows: K all sts on RS, p all sts on WS.
Double Stitches (ds)
Both in the RS and WS row: After turning, place the yarn in front of the work, pick up the first stitch and pull the yarn firmly to the back. The stitch is pulled over the needle and lies double.
Jacquard Pattern
The number of stitches must be divisible by 4. Knit all rounds in stockinette stitch according to the chart, working the repeat of 4 sts continuously.

Top-down Boomerang Heel
The Boomerang Heel stockinette in offwhite with sts on 4th and 1st needle. To do this, join all stitches on one needle and divide into 3 parts (10-12-10/10-12-10/11-12-11/11-12-11) either mentally or with the help of stitch markers.
First (upper) part of heel:
- row (RS): knit all sts, turn.
- row (WS): knit one ds, purl all sts, turn.
- row (RS): work one ds, k all sts to ds, turn.
- row (WS): work one ds, p all sts to ds, turn.
Repeat the 3rd and 4th rows until 10/10/11/11 ds, 12 sts, 10/10/11/11 ds are knitted.
Now knit 2 rnd over all sts of the 4 needles. The dms are knitted as one sts each.
Second (lower) part of heel:
- row (RS): knit the sts of the centre third and the first sts of the left third, turn
- row (WS): knit a ds, purl the sts of the centre third and the first sts of the right third, turn.
- row (RS): Work a ds, knit all sts including the dc and one more sts, turn.
- row (WS): knit a ds, purl all sts including the dc and one more sts, turn
Repeat the 3rd and 4th row until the outer sts lie on the needle as dc. Distribute the sts of the heel evenly over 2 needles.
Knit the foot
Knit the foot stockinette in jacquard pattern B in offwhite, golden yellow, choco, burgundy and dark green.
- Knit the 16th-28th rnd of the pattern and the 1st-28th rnd 1x each.
- then work the 1st-4th rnd/1st-8th rnd/1st-8th rnd/1st-12th rnd of the pattern 1x each.
Cut the threads in off-white, choco, burgundy and dark green and finish the sock in golden yellow.
At the same time, after 16/17.5/19/20.5 cm from the centre of the heel, start decreasing for the tband toe.

Top-down classic roundet toe
- For the Classic Rounded Toe in the 1st rnd on the 1st and 3rd needle, knit the second and third last sts together (right leaning decrease)
- on the 2nd and 4th needle slip the 2nd sts, knit the next sts and pull the slipped sts over it (left leaning decrease).
- Work the next two rounds without decreasing.
- Repeat the decrease in the 3rd, 6th, 8th, 10th and 12th rnd.
- Then decrease in each rnd until there are only 2 sts left on each needle.
Cut the yarn, pass it through the 8 sts with a wool needle and pull it tight. Then pull the thread inwards.
Sew all threads and work the second sock in the same way.
