Crank a casual addiExpress slipover with the knitting machine
The front and back parts of the slipover are made up of several rectangles:
- Size XS/S: 4 rectangles (2 for front part, 2 for back part)
- Size M/L: 6 rectangles (3 for front part, 3 for back part)
- Size XL/XXL: 6 rectangles (3 for front part, 3 for back part)
Calculate gauge and size
The rectangles that make up the sweater vary in size:
- Size XS/S: Each rectangle is approx. 26.5 cm (10.4") wide and 55 cm (21.5") high.
- Size M/L: Each rectangle is approx. 22 cm (8.7") wide and 56 cm (22") high.
- Size XL/XXL: Each rectangle is approx. 25 cm (9.5") wide and 57 cm (22.5") high.
These measurements are based on the knitting sample and ensure that the sweater has the right fit for every size.
Crank rectangles
Cast on stitches:
- Cast on 37 stitches with waste yarn in “straight knitting” mode.
- Size XS/S: Cast on 37 stitches (needles 4 to 40)
- Size M/L: Cast on 31 stitches (needles 4 to 34)
- Size XL/XXL: Cast on 35 stitches (needles 4 to 38)
Tip: To limit the width of the panel, you can use a stopper and insert between needles 44/45 (38/39) 42/43.
Cranking with the knitting machine:
- Crank 10 rows with the waste yarn. The row counter now shows 5 (in rows, only every second row is counted - one right side and one wrong side row).
- Switch to the main yarn (Honor), set the counter to 0.
- Size XS/S: Crank 126 rows (counter 63)
- Size M/L: Crank 129 rows (counter 64, end with an right side row)
- Size XL/XXL: Crank 131 rows (counter 65, end with an right side row)
Knit and bind off cuffs
- Knit another 10 rows by hand in 1×1 rib pattern (alternating 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch).
- Then loosely bind off.
Remove the contrast yarn at the beginning of the rectangles and pick up all the stitches on the knitting needle and then bind off loosely.
Repeat this process (steps 1-3) until 4 (6) 6 rectangles are completed.

Join the rectangles and finish the pullunder
Join the rectangles for the front piece and back piece:
- Join 2 rectangles (size XS/S) or 3 rectangles (M/L and XL/XXL) together with Matress Stitch .
This creates a front piece and a back piece.
Close shoulder seams:
- Join the top edge of the front piece to the top edge of the back piece with kitchener stitch.
- Make sure to add enough space for the head in the middle (approx. 30 cm/ 12" when stretched).
Close the side seams:
- Sew the sides of the front and back pieces together with Matress Stitch.
- Make sure to add enough armhole space (about 25-30 cm, depending on your size and taste).
