Knit a Coco raglan sweater for children
The raglan sweater for children is knitted in rounds from the bottom up and is available in many sizes. The pattern is created using a color yarn.
The shoulders of the raglan construction run from the armpit to the neckline, ensuring a particularly good fit.

- Stockinette st in the round = knit all sts. In rows = knit on RS, purl on WS.
- K1:P1 rib, * k1, p1, rep from * around.
Knit a raglan sweater: Back and Front
- Cast on 134/146/154/166/174 sts with US 4 (3.5 mm) circular needles
- Close to work in the round, work 1 rnd in knit, place a marker for beginning of rnd and another after 67/73/77/83/87 sts
- Now knit in pattern I
Continue working the sts as they face you until your work measures 1½” (4 cm), then change to US 6 (4 mm) needles and arrange pattern as follows:
- * k1, p2, k1, p1, 57/63/67/73/77 sts stockinette,
- decreasing 8/10/10/12/12 sts evenly over these sts,
- p1, k1, p2, k1, rep from * once more = 118/126/134/142/150 sts
- When your work measures 2¾“/3¼“/3¼“/4“/4“ (7/8/8/10/10 cm) from the cast-on, inc as follows for the side shaping:
- Cast on 1 st for 4 times (see tip 2).
- Work the next rnd as follows: bind off 3 sts, k 57/61/65/69/73, bind off 6 sts, k 57/61/65/69/73, bind off 3 sts. Leave the sts on a holder.
Tip 2: Accented stitches (sideways slant): After the stitch marker = K1, P2, K1, P1, K1, K1 cast on st twisted. Before the stitch marker = cast on 1 st twisted, K1, P1, K1, P2, K1.
Work the sleeves
- Cast on 42/44/50/52/52 sts with US 4 (3.5 mm) double-pointed needles.
- Im Muster III rundstr. Bei 4 cm ab Anschl mit N Nr 4 im Muster II weiter rundstr
- Close to work in the round and place a marker for beginning of rnd. - Work K1:P1 rib in the round: * k1, p1, rep from * around.
- Diese Aufn jede 4. Rd / jede 4. Rd / jede 6. Rd / jede 8. Rd / jede 6. Rd noch 9x/9x/9x/9x/12x wdh = 50/52/58/60/66 M. Bei 22/25/28/33/36 cm ab Anschl 1 Rd wie folgt
- str: Ab Rd-Beginn 3 M abk, 44/46/52/54/60 M re, 3 M abk.
- 1 M re, 1 M li, 1 übz Abn (1 M abh, 1 M re str und die abgeh M über die gestr M ziehen), 49/53/57/61/65 M re, 2 M re zus-str, 1 M li, 1 M re, 1 M li, 1 M re, 1 M li, 1 übz Abn, 34/36/42/44/50 M re, 2 M re zus-str, 1 M li, 1 M re, 1 M li, 1 M re, 1 M li, 1 übz Abn, 49/53/57/61/65 M re, 2 M re zus-str, 1 M li, 1 M re, 1 M li, 1 M re, 1 M li, 1 übz Abn, 34/36/42/44/50 M re, 2 M re zus-str, 1 M li, 1 M re, 1 M li = 194/206/226/238/258 M.
- Diese Raglanabnahmen noch 13x/14x/15x/15x/17x jede 2. Rd/R und 4x/4x/5x6x/6x jede R wiederholen.
- Shape V-neck: at the same time when you make the 2nd rnd of raglan decreases divide for V-neck, bind off the center front st and work to end of rnd.
- Now continue working in rows, whilst also proceeding with the raglan decreases.
- Work fully fashioned dec at the neck edge as follows: Dec Row (RS): k1 (edge st), sl1, k1, psso, work to the last 3 sts, k2tog, k1 (edge st) – 2 sts decreased. - Rep dec every 2nd row twice and every 4th row 4 times / every 2nd row 4 times and every 4th row 3 times / every 2nd row 5 times and every 4th row 3 times / every 2nd row 5 times and every 4th row 4 times / every 2nd row 6 times and every 4th row 4 times. When all decreases have been completed you will have 45/47/49/51/53 sts. Leave the sts on a holder.
- Tipp 5: Accentuated decrease (V-neck): Right edge = 1 edge stitch, 1 psso decrease. Left edge = knit 2 stitches together, 1 edge stitch.
Finishing
- V-neck border: with US 4 (3.5 mm) circular needle, pick up the 45/47/49/51/53 sts from the holder (see tip 6)
- then pick up 26/28/29/31/33 sts either side of the V-neck + 1 center front st. Work K1:P1 rib in the round, arranging the sts with k1 at center front
- Now dec every rnd (including the bind off rnd) over 3 sts at center front as follows: sl2tog knitwise, k1, psso When the border measures about 1¼“ (3 cm), bind off all sts loosely in pattern. Weave in ends. Block as desired
- Tipp 6: take care with the sts from all pieces, that they can continue to be knitted in K1:P1 rib, dec if necessary
