Choosing the perfect needle size for ergonomic knitting needles
To ensure that the ergonomic knitting needles have the correct circumference despite having the same diameter as a circle, a needle size one step larger than recommended should always be chosen. For example, if a 3.0 mm needle is specified in the pattern, we recommend using a 3.5 mm addiNovel.
Our addiCalibro wooden needle gauge set now offers the option to measure the sizes of the Novel needles directly in the square cutouts. Alternatively, measuring with a needle gauge with round cutouts is also possible: Simply insert the tip of the ergonomic knitting needle into the hole of the needle gauge. If the needle slides through to the first raised pattern (directly behind the tip), the correct size has been found and can be read off the needle gauge.
Our tip for knitting with ergonomic knitting needles:
If you knit particularly loosely or with average tension, the perfectly smooth surface of the needles ensures that the stitches glide perfectly, while the texture prevents the knitting needles from slipping unintentionally out of the workpiece. For those who knit particularly tightly, we recommend using round needles without pronounced texture, such as our addiUnicorn series, as the stitches may not glide ideally over the needle.
