Apprenticeship as a Metal Technology Specialist – specialising in Assembly Technology (m/f/d) 2027
At addi, it takes many individual steps to turn various components into finished knitting needles & crochet hooks. As a metalworking technician specialising in assembly technology, you’ll be right at the heart of it all – ensuring that everything fits together perfectly in the end.
Do you enjoy working with your hands, are you interested in technology, and do you want to see what you’ve achieved at the end of the day? Then you’ve come to the right place.
During your apprenticeship, you will learn how finished products and assemblies are made from various individual parts. You will work both with your hands and with machines and tools.
At addi, assembly technology means, above all: precision and a delicate touch. Our knitting needles and crochet hooks are made up of various components that must be precisely machined and joined together. With our circular knitting needles, for example, the needle tips and cords are joined together – a process we affectionately refer to as ‘marrying’ them.
To ensure that our needles work perfectly later on and that the wool can glide smoothly over the joins, every millimetre counts.

Working at addi
addi, or rather the Selter company, is a successful family-run business with more than 100 employees, situated in the lush heart of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Sauerland. This is where innovation meets tradition. For although we keep both feet firmly on the ground, our minds often wander among the clouds – and that is how, ever since 1829, we have continually come up with ideas for new products and solutions, which we then successfully bring to market.
Here in our valley, we manufacture top-quality knitting needles and crochet hooks under the brand name “addi” and ship them to customers in more than 60 different countries - we therefore feel quite globalised when we can speak english, french or turkish with clients and offer various translations.
