Der Socken-Weltrekord

Bookseller Miriam Cahannes, Veronika Hug, Susanne Oswald and her husband Bernd Oswald aim to break the current record of 35,500 hand-knitted socks hung on a washing line.

After the event, these socks are to be donated to night shelters, mobile aid services and residential support centres in Germany, as well as to similar organisations in Switzerland. To mark the occasion, they have founded the ‘Sockenweltrekord’ association. With this world record attempt, they aim to raise public awareness of homelessness, foster understanding and, together, make the world at least 36,000 pairs of socks warmer and friendlier.
