Amigurumi – animal fun – part 2
Haven’t had enough of cute little crochet animals yet? Understandable. In the first part you already learned that you could crochet amigurumis even as a beginner, although it doesn’t look like it at first glance. But we have an example for you, directly from the addi family!
The Japanese knit or crochet art of amigurumi has been one of the major trends in our community in recent years – and for good reason. The little creatures are of course a hit with animal lovers, but alongside kittens, owls and bees, you can also produce objects and fantasy figures. In Japan, “nuigurumi” are extremely popular.
On the following pages you will find inspiring instructions, tips, sample works and stories from the amigurumi world. We will also show you the most common crochet mistakes and how to avoid them. Then nothing will stand in the way of your next, or first, amigurumi crochet.

The Amigurumi-world at addi
Sina Schmidt is already a long time addi employee and can’t get enough of the fluffy little animals.
She started about 2 years ago during the COVID-19 pandemic with amigurumis. She watched videos about it on YouTube and just had to try it right away.
And even though she had no experience with crochet, since she had only ever knitted before, it worked. She can safely say: “Even as a beginner you can crochet amigurumis”.

“There are very good instructions on YouTube, where you can easily watch how the crochet animals are made. But also on the Internet you can find many good instructions to print.”
Which wool you use best for this, of course, depends on personal preference. Mrs. Schmidt prefers to crochet with the following wool: “Himalaya Velvet or Himalaya Dolphin Baby”.

And which needle does she prefer to use?
The addiNature Walnut Wood wool crochet hook. “I prefer to crochet with the Walnut, it’s super light. You don’t notice it in your hand at all.” A favourite with many.
