nature – part 2.
As promised, there is now the continuation of the colorful street art. Where Yarn Bombing comes from, which yarn is best suited and of course which addi needle should not be missing.
P.S.: You can also bring nature home quickly and easily with our addiExpress Kingsize and addiExpress Professional knitting machines.
Where does Yarn Bombing even come from and how long has it been around?
Mrs. Hahn aka Gassenmaschen explained:
“It all started in 2005 in Houston/Texas, when Magda Sayeg (the mother of Yarn Bombing) crocheted around a door handle. This started the triumphant march of this art form around the globe.
Yarn Bombing is still relevant and always will be.”
Mrs. Krugmann adds:
“There are more and more initiatives that carry out actions of this kind. In the meantime, however, these events have found a new quality, they have already mutated into art exhibitions and/or represent political statements.”
However, you find this art most widespread in Europe, the USA and Australia / New Zealand.

Now, you can imagine that only certain yarns suit for this kind of crocheting and knitting, because they have to be weatherproof, after all, so that the art retains its beauty for a long time despite rain and sun.

The perfect yarn
Mrs. Hahn recommends:
“In principle, you can make Yarn Bombings with any yarn. If the project is going to remain in place for a long time, the wool you choose should be durable so it can withstand the elements.
Similarly, the yarn should have high colour fastness so that it does not fade too much due to the sunlight it is exposed to, making it unsightly. Tip: 100% polyacrylic yarn is very colour fast and durable, plus very inexpensive. It comes in many different colours and is great for yarnbombing.”
