With addi
around the world
In summer 2019 addi started the project “with addi around the world” with Fanny from yarn around the world. DIY & crochet book author Fanny has constant wanderlust. She started her trip around the world at the beginning of August 2019. With her was a little backpack full of yarn as well as a selection of addi tools. In foreign countries she met other handicraft enthusiasts as well as addi products in local yarn stores.

There's not much room in a world travel backpack and every gram counts, so Fanny had to think carefully beforehand about which needlework projects would come into question during the trip so that she could specifically pack her favourite addi products.

The projects on the road
Most of the handicrafts created were to be given away on the trip, for which she crocheted many different shopping nets or key rings, for example. These were welcome gifts. A free shopping net instruction (knitted & crocheted) is offered by the initiative Handarbeit under the action - Make me Take me .
Knitting socks is also wonderful for on the go, because it's not a huge project and you have something to do for a while. I used the addiSockwunder for this and the addiCraSyTrio for the sock toe.
On her way, Fanny also knitted shawls and a hat with the addiNovel circular knitting needles. These were used for hiking in the Himalayas, among other places. In addition to their many advantages, the addiNovel knitting needles have the great advantage that they are very light and therefore save on the weight of the luggage.

The journey continued by train to the capital Moscow, followed by the Trans-Siberian Railway to Irkutsk, Siberia. The huge Lake Baikal awaited them in Siberia and also in Irkutsk they explored a wool shop with beautiful addi products.

Untypical for the season, Fanny struggled with a lot of snow on the altitude metres. After crossing the pass at an altitude of 5416 m, however, the Corona circumstances unfortunately also caught up with her...

The world tour is paused
So much was still planned, but after almost 8 months, the journey did not continue through Asia, but back to Germany instead. The uncertain situation worldwide in the month of March 2020 did not allow any further travel.
Fanny took advantage of the break to visit addi in June as part of her knitting tour of Germany, and at the same time to find out about the new products for 2020.
The world tour is paused
So much was still planned, but after almost 8 months, the journey did not continue through Asia, but back to Germany instead. The uncertain situation worldwide in the month of March 2020 did not allow any further travel.
Fanny took advantage of the break to visit addi in June as part of her knitting tour of Germany, and at the same time to find out about the new products for 2020.

Due to the circumstances, Fanny very cautiously made plans to continue her journey. From the beginning of August, she planned to travel again with her favourite addi products, first in Europe. This time, however, a face mask joined her in her world travel luggage.
