Step 1
Back part - shoulders and neckline
CO 102/114/120/128/134 sts 2 strands on the first circular knitting needle
- Place a sm after 32/37/38/41/44 sts and after 70/77/82/87/90 sts.
Work in pattern I (stockinette stitch),work german short rows for the shoulders as follows:
- Knit to the 2nd sm, turn (purl the 1st sts, pulling up the yarn (= short row)) and purl back to the 1st sm.
-
Turn (= knit short row) and knit to 6 sts after the 2nd sts, turn (= knit short row) and knit back to 6 sts after the 1st sts, working the short row sts from the previous row as 1 sts.
-
Continue working in this way until both sides of the markers have been turned 5x/6x/6x/6x/7x and 2/1/2/5/2 sts remain on both sides.
Then continue in pattern I across all sts:
- At 7.5/8.3/ 8.3/8.7/8.7" (19/21/21/22/22 cm) from the CO (measured in the centre of the piece), inc every 2nd row 5x/3x/4x/4x/5x1 sts for the armholes as follows:
-
1 edge stitch, 1 k, 1 M1R (see pattern), knit to 2 sts before end of row, 1 M1L, 1 k, 1 edge st = 112/120/128/136/144 sts.
-
Then leave the sts in place.
Step 2
Front
Left shoulder and neckline edge:
- With the second circular knitting needle, cast on 1 sts from each sts on the shoulder of the back (from the 2nd sm of the cast on) with 2 strands = 32/37/38/41/44 sts.
-
From the following back row work in pattern I.
-
After 19 rows for the neckline cast on 8x/8x/10x/10x/10 x1 sts every 2nd row along the right edge, emphasising as follows:
-
knit to 2 sts before end of row, M1L, 1 k, 1 es = 40/45/48/51/54 sts. Leave the sts in place.
-
Right shoulder and neckline edge:
- With the third circular knitting needle on the shoulder of the back (from the edge of the armhole), cast on 2 strands, 1 sts from each sts = 32/37/38/41/44 sts.
-
From the following back row work in pattern I.
-
After 19 rows for the neckline cast on 8x/8x/10x/10x/10 x1 sts every 2nd row along the left edge, emphasising as follows:
-
1 es, 1 k, M1R = 40/45/48/51/54 sts. Leave the sts in place.
-
Neckline:
Then knit the sts of both parts together as follows:
- Work 40/45/48/51/54 sts of the right shoulder
-
CO 22/24/24/26/26 new sts,
-
Work 40/45/48/51/54 sts of the left shoulder = 102/114/120/128/134 sts.
Armholes:
Work the inc for the armhole in the same way as for the back.
- At 7.5/8.3/
8.3/8.7/8.7" (19/21/21/22/22 cm) from the CO, inc every 2nd row 5x/3x/4x/4x/5x1 sts for the armholes as follows:
-
1 edge stitch, 1 k, 1 M1R (see pattern), knit to 2 sts before end of row, 1 M1L, 1 k, 1 edge st = 112/120/128/136/144 sts.
-
Step 3
Connect the front and back sections
Now knit the sts from the front and back on the longest circular knitting needle and close the sts to a round, attaching a sm at the beginning of the round and after 112/120/128/136 sts = 224/240/256/272/288 sts.
- Continue rounds in pattern I.
At 18.9/19.3/19.7/20/20.5 (48/49/50/51/52 cm) from the CO (measured from the CO of the back):
- Distribute 24 sts inc ( approx. 1 sts after every 9/10/11/11/12 sts) = 248/264/280/296/312 sts.
Step 4
