Chunky knit with hands
In the so-called arm knitting or finger crochet, you do not need knitting needles or crochet hooks, but – as the name suggests – only your hands or arms.
The special thing about it is the very thick knitting tube, which is processed with the fingers to handbags or pillows and lanterns. Anita Freitag-Meyer, the founder of the label “Nitiknitti”, will tell you more.

Anita Freitag-Meyer is 53 years old, mother of 2 adult children and 2022 she founded “Nitiknitti”. A label for chunky knit bags, workshops and home accessories made of chunky knit. One of her workshops was held at our company and we thought the work was just great!
But actually she has been an entrepreneur for over 30 years and runs a cookie factory. So how do you go from cookies to chunky knits? In the mind, it’s a bit difficult to eat cookies and work with your hands at the same time. But Ms. Freitag-Meyer was like many of us over the past two and a half years.
“I’ve always loved knitting – though always with needles – and during the Corona pandemic I was at home a lot, of course, and since I can never do nothing, I got into chunky knitting and tried a lot of things until I came up with the finger crochet method for handbags, which has now become a real fashion trend.”

Tip: Following her workshops, she also offers various knitting tubes in washable cotton quality for purchase, so that what you have learned can be implemented directly at home on your own. Merino worsted wool can also be processed. However, one should know that it is much more sensitive and pilling can not be avoided.

“I made it myself!” Because knitwear is chic!”
