Cuff:
- Cast on 60 sts with US 1 (2.5 mm) addiCraSyTrio
- Close to work in the round, place a marker for beginning of rnd.
- Work rib st in the rnd for cuff: * k2, p2, rep from * around.
- When cuff measures 4¾” (12 cm) begin working in stockinette st (= knit all sts).
Thumb gusset:
- Knit 1 rnd, placing markers after 29 sts and 31 sts for thumb gusset (= 2 sts for gusset).
Now work increases as follows: on the first rnd inc either side of the 2 thumb gusset sts:
- 1. Rd work to 1 st before the first marker, k1, slip marker,
- M1L (= left-leaning inc: with left needle, pick up the cross-wise strand between sts from the front and knit through the back of this loop), work to second marker (= gusset sts),
- M1R (= right-leaning inc: with left needle, pick up the cross-wise strand between sts and knit into this loop), slip marker, k1.
- 2. – 4. Rd: knit.
- Repeat rnds 1 - 4until you have 68 sts on your needles.
- On the next rnd separate the sts for the thumb as follows: knit to first marker, remove marker, put the 10 sts between the markers onto a holder for the thumb, remove marker, cast on 6 sts and knit the remaining 29 sts = 64 sts.
Palm:
- Continue, working stockinette st in the round.
- When mitten measures 10” (25 cm) from the cast-on, make dec either side of both Trio needles as follows:
- 1st round: k1, sl1, k1, psso, work to 3 sts before end of the needle k2tog, k1, slip marker, k1, sl1, k1, psso, work to 3 sts before end of the needle, k2tog, k1 – 4 sts decreased (= 60 sts).
- 2nd round: knit.
- Rep rnds 1 & 2 until 12 sts remain on your needles.
- Break yarn, pass the end through the remaining sts, draw up and fasten off.
Thumbs:
- Pick up the 10 sts that were left on hold, distributed over two Trio needles, and knit them.
- Take 10 sts from holder for the thumb: k10, pick up 2 sts from the gap, pick up 6 sts from the new sts for the hand, pick up 2 sts from the gap = 20 sts.
- Knit in the round
- until thumb reaches a length of 2¼” (6 cm), then dec as follows:
- * k2tog, rep from * around = 10 sts.
- Break yarn, pass the end through the remaining sts, draw up and fasten off.
