Men’s sweater knitting
This timeless sweater made from tweed yarn is knitted with 1 thread of dark gray and 1 thread of camel. This creates a special color effect. A pattern from Lang Yarns.

Pattern
Ribbed knitting
Circular knitting needle 4.5 mm
- k1 (knit) , p1 (purl)
Pattern II: US 8 (5 mm) needles:
- Stockinette stitch = knit in front, purl in back.
Tip: decreases:
- - Right edge = 1 edge stitch, k1, k2tog
- - Left edge = sk2p, k1, 1 edge stitch.

How it works – step 1
Men’s sweater - Knitting Back
- Cast on 80/88/94/102 sts with 1 strand each of dark grey and camel.
- Knit in pattern I. After 5 cm (2“) cont knitting in pattern II.
Shape armholes:
- At 43/42/41/39 cm (17“/16½“/16¼“/15¼“) from the cast-on (measured hanging) cast off 2 sts at each end of every other row 1/1/2/2 times, then dec 1 st at each end of every other row 6/7/6/8 times (see dec tip, p. 2) = 64/70/74/78 sts.
- Shoulders: When the armhole reaches a length of 23/24/25/27 cm (9”/9½”/10”/10¾”) cast off at each end of every other row: 6 sts twice + 7 sts once / 7 sts 3 times / 7 sts twice + 8 sts once / 7 sts once + 8 sts twice.
Neckline:
- At the same time, as you begin shoulder shaping, cast off the middle 24/26/28/30 sts, then after 2 more rows cast off 1 st either side at neck edge.

Step 3
Sleeves
Sleves:
- Cast on 40/44/48/52 sts with 1 strand each of dark grey and camel.
- Knit in pattern I.
- After 5 cm (2“) cont knitting in pattern II.
- For side shaping, inc 1 st at each end of every 10th row 9 times = 58/62/66/70 sts
Sleeve cap:
- At a length of 49 cm (19¼”), cast off 2 sts at each end of every other row:
- 1/1/2/2 times and 1 st 15/15/16/16 times.
- 2 sts once and 3 sts once.
- Then after 4 rows cast off 1 st at each end of the row, then at each end of every other row again:
- Loosely cast off the rem sts when sleeve cap reaches a length of 17/17/18/18 cm (6¾”/6¾”/7”/7”).

Step 3
Sleeves
Sleves:
- Cast on 40/44/48/52 sts with 1 strand each of dark grey and camel.
- Knit in pattern I.
- After 5 cm (2“) cont knitting in pattern II.
- For side shaping, inc 1 st at each end of every 10th row 9 times = 58/62/66/70 sts
Sleeve cap:
- At a length of 49 cm (19¼”), cast off 2 sts at each end of every other row:
- 1/1/2/2 times and 1 st 15/15/16/16 times.
- 2 sts once and 3 sts once.
- Then after 4 rows cast off 1 st at each end of the row, then at each end of every other row again:
- Loosely cast off the rem sts when sleeve cap reaches a length of 17/17/18/18 cm (6¾”/6¾”/7”/7”).

Step 4
Finishing
Finishing:
- Close the seams
- Set in sleeves
Neckband:
- With the circular needle and 1 strand each of dark grey and camel pick up 86/90/94/98 sts
- back = 30/32/34/36 sts
- front = 56/58/60/62 sts
- Work in pattern I
- After working neckband for 4 cm (1½“) loosely cast off all sts.


Step 4
Finishing
Finishing:
- Close the seams
- Set in sleeves
Neckband:
- With the circular needle and 1 strand each of dark grey and camel pick up 86/90/94/98 sts
- back = 30/32/34/36 sts
- front = 56/58/60/62 sts
- Work in pattern I
- After working neckband for 4 cm (1½“) loosely cast off all sts.
