All steps at a glance
How it works:
Step 1
- Cast on 15 stitches.
- Pattern row: Slip 1 edge stitch, (knit 1, purl 1) to 1 stitch before end, knit 1 edge stitch.
- Repeat this row for 175 rows or until piece measures 50 cm (20 inches).
Step 2
- In the next row you will purl together the 3 center stitches, to work a decrease:
- Decrease row: Slip 1 edge stitch, (knit 1, purl 1) to 1 stitch before the center stitch, purl 3 stitches together, (knit 1, purl 1) to 1 stitch before end, knit 1 edge stitch (= decreased 2 stitches).
- Work pattern row 9 times.
Step 3
- Repeat Step 2 for 2 more times
- Now there are 9 stitches left on the needle.
Step 4
- Work one more decrease row like in Step 2.
- Now you should have 7 stitches left.
- Knit pattern row for 260 times again (= 466 rows in total).
- Your tie should measure around 145 cm (57 inches) now.
- Bind off and weave in all ends. Enjoy!
