Each material has its own advantages and disadvantages, which in turn are experienced individually by each knitter. The perfect needle that always fits perfectly therefore does not exist. To make knitting fun, you should always match the needles you use to the project you have chosen.

The decision as to which knitting needle is appropriate for which project not only depends on the yarn selected and the techniques used, but also has a lot to do with personal preferences and the desired feeling when knitting.

Knitting needles made of wood are very suitable for knitters who find metal needles too cool or who tend to have wet hands, because the wood does not become slippery.

For reasons of stability, knitting needles made of wood cannot be as thin as those made of plastic or metal. Plastic knitting needles

Beginners often reach for plastic knitting needles, these are affordable and look appealing with glitter elements or bright colors. Needles made of plastic, such as the addi circular knitting needles Champagne can be made in any needle size and are still very light in the thick versions. The robust material also forgives very firm knitting. Plastic needles very rarely show signs of wear, even with heavy use.

Knitters who tend to have wet hands will find, however, that plastic needles become slightly damp here and the yarn then no longer glides well over the needle.

Even cotton or synthetic fibers glide smoothly over the needles here. Knitting needles made of metal can be made in very small needle sizes because of the stability.
